If you let your domain expire, it will go into a redemption period, it may cost much more to renew after it enters this period. After the redemption period expires  ANYONE can purchase this domain. Sadly many unethical companies purchase your expired domain to bring traffic to their sites, many overseas, or porno sites.

So consider carefully, the decision to let a domain expire!
