Why optimize your photos before uploading the site? Well to start off if your photo is as large as a city block ( meaning same size as you got it from your camera ), you upload and resize while on the page in your editing program, BUT it will still be as large as a city block, making your page load very s-l-o-w-ly, and in the end force alot of customers to leave especially dial-up or slower speed internet services.
